Have you ever found yourself waist deep in a passion project, only to discover you are actually way in over your head? Two years ago, I decided I wanted to build a new dining table large enough to fit our family and guests. I got the base built, it was level and looked fantastic! Then, it was time for the table top. I tried everything I could to make the table top slats not have gaps and be straight (some boards were bowed), but nothing worked. It was time to call in the reinforcements, i.e. Joel! We tried a few things, argued about approach but ultimately realized we were missing some extra “hands” to help us. Thank goodness for tools and ratchet straps, otherwise getting those boards on there would not have happened!
Sometimes calling in reinforcements means an alternate use of tools, other times it means help from other people. As we embark on our inaugural race season of the Orbital Crit Series, we are calling in the reinforcements and asking for help! We cannot do this on our own. Joel and I are working extremely hard to make sure that this criterium series is awesome and that everyone has a great time! But if there is one thing I have learned as a military spouse, is that I can’t do it all! There is a reason why Superman is in the comics – it is humanly impossible to be able to do everything without letting something fall! We want to make sure that nothing falls – so we need your help!
We need volunteers to help with executing the criterium series, such as set up, tear down and race course monitoring. As our race is a community event, we are more than happy to have high school students who are needing volunteer hours for school activities or other service groups. If you or your student is interested in volunteering, please contact us at jkholder@orbitalcycleracing.com.
